McBusted

Last weekend was the best weekend of my life. I saw my favourite band two nights in a row at the O2 Arena (London). Actually, I’ve seen them up close. Maybe too close. James almost fell down over me and my friends, and Danny spat water on our Spanish flag. I could even touched his sneakers!

Danny Jones

But first things first. Just for those who don’t know, McBusted is a British supergroup made up of the four members of McFly (Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd) and two of the former members of Busted (James Bourne and Matt Willis). They’ve known each other for more than ten years now, and at the end of 2013, they all thought it’d be fun to hit the road together. The 2014 tour was such a big success in the UK, so they decided to record an album as a band and going on tour again.

I was so lucky to see them on Hyde Park last Summer, and I didn’t want to miss the chance to see them again this time, so I bought my tickets for the shows and my plane ticket to London and the long countdown started.

Before the main artist, we had the pleasure to see two supporting bands, @Symmetrytheband and @NewCityKings and they both were really entertaining and put the audience on the mood for a great evening.

But when we thought the show was just around the corner, they started playing movie trailers. Good old classics from the eighties and the nineties, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Karate Kid, Home Alone, and a lot more. I have to give a special shout-out to The Mighty Ducks and Back To The Future, because we didn’t just see those trailers, but also some references from both movies during the main concert. I have to admit that they won me over all this geekyness :3

McB

Music, movies, and then video games!! After the blackout announcing the beginning of the show, the stage started lighting up again and it was an arcade game with all its colourful buttons and joysticks. Then, one by one, starting with Harry at the drum kit and finishing with Danny on the centre of the stage (as always), they all materialized on their positions and the show started with Air Guitar, the first strictly speaking McBusted single.

They also played Hate Your Guts or Get Over It (from the McBusted album), but they didn’t forget about McFly’s hits, like One For The Radio, All About You or Star Girl, nor Busted’s, like Crash The Wedding or Year 3000.

James Bourne

What Happened To Your Band spiced things up, literally, with some flames, and I have to say it was one of my favourite moments of the night. But all of a sudden, the band vanished from the main stage, making way for a video that took us «back to the… tour last year», and ended with the guys in the DeLorean that made Doc and Marty travel in time. At the end of the video, a REAL DeLorean started coming down from the ceiling in the middle of the arena, to a minor stage, where McBusted played Air Hostess, What I Go To School For, Obviously and the wonderful Beautiful Girls Are The Loneliest, played by James and Danny on their own. Just two guitars, two voices, and thousands of lights from the phones in the audience. I must say I cried. Both nights.

But happy moments followed those tears. We went to a wedding!! We had a very undressed Harry Judd as a preacher. Matt was the groom, top hat included. And there came the bride… a beautiful Dougie with his white dress, but followed by other jealous brides (the other 3 bandmates) trying to Crash The Wedding. It was such a funny moment!

Riding on my BikeFun didn’t end there though. James took his wedding dress off to ride his bike, literally. Riding On My Bike is not my favourite McBusted song, but I have to take my hat off to the performance. Actually, I didn’t thought that what James was doing was dangerous until he lost balance for a second and almost fell down over us. I BOW TO YOU, MISTER BOURNE!!!

Before the show came to and end, we also enjoyed a kiss-cam moment!! Boyfriends, girlfriends, mums and their kids, or just friends were welcomed to kiss on camera. We even had some «celebrities», like Mrs. Emma Willis (Matt’s wife) who kissed a guy who was not his hot husband. [ If she wants that guy, I could take her husband any time ;D ]

But good things always come to an end, sadly, and the guys disappeared once more from stage, making way for a video of an absolutely brilliant version of the superfamous Gordon Bombay’s speech on D2: The Mighty Ducks. Well okay, maybe I was the only Mighty Ducks fan on the O2 this weekend, but even if you weren’t, you can say how impressive the «McBUSTED JUMP TOGETHER» moment was. (I cried, again.)

And they jumped, for the last three songs. 5 Colours In Her Hair. Shine A Light, one of my all time favorites, which made me burst into tears, again (I’m a whiny girl, I know). And to end an epic show, the famous Year 3000, when me and my friends could even touch (play would be presumptuous) Danny Jones’ guitar. That great personal moment also put and end to my amazing McBusted weekend.

I have too many people to thank for those days. Big shout out to @erikasagastegui @rain_in_spain @StyleStacey14 @Beatriz_fly @_seaofsound @caroldougieSS @annievalentino @BobbyZa86 @LovesAFreak & @MissZukie.

To @londondreamer and @Xversa_noe I LOVE YOU CHOUNCHES!!!

And to Danny, Tom, Dougie, Matt, Harry and James. Thank you for your music and for the memories!! See you on the road!!
